In just a few weeks, Garrison will be counting his years on two hands. Six digits will fly up in the air. He is long, lean, and muscular. People are commenting on how 'old' he looks. A full blown boy indeed.
Soon, he will be flashing a grin with gaps where teeth used to reside (he can't wait actually...which surprises me). He will be learning to read and write while going to 'big' school five days a week. Brian will get just a couple more "Daddy Days" with Garrison on Fridays in August. Life is changing around here...Fast!
GL is officially pre-registered for Kindergarten. His paperwork turned in and phase-in dates set. Last week he walked into that big ole school and took his first test (of MANY thoursands to come). His screening went well, but his hands were in his mouth most of the time (que his nervous reaction). Supply list in hand. Summer reading is on our to-do. Life is Changing Fast!
I had told G he had to learn to tie his shoe laces. For a Kindergarten teacher is not going to be tying a six year old's shoes. The next day, I came home from work to find that he had done just that. Suddenly, through my eyes, my oldest stood a bit taller. A bit older. A bit more confident. just.by.tying.his.shoes.
I am excited to have my boy at school with me in August. Seven years of teaching has taught me A LOT. But, I think having one in school myself will teach me A WHOLE LOT more.
